I’ve been watching the Olympic Winter games a lot lately. The snowboarding is my favourite, although I also like the figure skating and the skiing.
So, of course, I just had to make some winter-themed things for my dolls, too. 😉
I decided to look through the Winter playlist on MyFroggyStuff and decided to try and make this kawaii beanie.
Isn’t it the cutest thing? You can view the video here.
I didn’t have any fluffy infant socks, but I did have these cute socks I bought from Wish for $4. I like the design, but they are a bit too small for my feet, so I figured they would be more useful if I turned them into doll clothes.
Hmm… Something’s not right…
I then realised you are supposed to use the band part of the sock, not the toe, so I started again.
I followed the instructions but it still looked a bit odd.
I tried adding the braided cord, but that didn’t help much.
I also drew on a “cute” face like in the tutorial, but that looked even worse. I won’t show a picture of that because it really was bad!
I decided to give up working on the beanie and turn to something else instead. The sock wasn’t big enough for to fit Barbie, so I decided to make a sweater / jumper for Stacie instead.
Pro Tip: When making this kind of jumper, it’s 110% important that you are really careful around the armpit area and sew it up nice and tight.
I probably should have done something with the sleeves and the bottom of the jumper but I couldn’t be bothered to hem it, so I just left it.
I then decided I should make a winter photostory. And I’ve got the perfect setup all ready to go!
“But wait” you say. “Isn’t that Chloe’s office in New Doll City? What does that have to do with winter?”
Ta-da! By removing the cityscape views and replacing them with an alpine forest, I was able to transform the building into the inside of a “log cabin.”
Now all I need to do is decorate!
To make the snowy scenery outside, I printed off two images and stuck them closely together.
To make “snow,” I used some fleece.
To create height for a hill to snowboard down, I put a pillow underneath the fleece.
Overall, I don’t think my beanie turned out quite as well as Froggy’s, but it’s a good first effort! Maybe if I see some infant socks in the shops, I will give it another try.
